What does the APRHF currently do?

We operate the Silver Rails Gallery and Memorial Library:

It is the only gallery dedicated to works of railroad art. The gallery explores all mediums including photography, paintings, line art, woodcarvings, and has a fine Model Railroad as the center piece. We also have a complete railroad reference library with books about Amtrak and many other books about all aspects of railroading. We have regular hours here but calling ahead for a scheduled appointment is recommended due to the many things our staff takes care of. www.silverrailsgallery.com

We operate the APRHF Exhibition of Amtrak History:

This is the only Exhibition like it in existence. This exhibition features many items related to the rich History of Amtrak. There is also exhibits featuring 40th anniversary, National Train Day, and the dome car "Ocean View" There is also a operating Lionel Layout for your enjoyment. This is a self guided exhibit. The key is available at the Front Desk of the Hotel.

We operate the Train Watching Cabin and Deck:

What a cool place to watch trains! This Cabin is located on the former right-of-way of the Wabash Railroad, overlooking the BNSF Transcon, so you get a full view of the many fast trains that run by here everyday. It is heated and has free Wi-Fi. This is a fun place to be to watch trains and maybe catch up on some work in-between.

The APRHF also sponsors “The Let's Talk Trains Show,” an Internet radio show, which airs every Saturday from 12-noon to 2 p.m. Central Time. www.letstalktrains.com

Our latest venture is a Trails and Rails Program on the Southwest Chief. This narration program will start in May of this year.

Last but not least we are involved in the maintenance and upkeep of the La Plata Amtrak Station via grant monies from the Missouri Department of Transportation.
